Templates

This page is used to view the Ayla device templates available. An Ayla template is a group of properties (i.e. module name, OEM ID, Ayla registration type, etc.) applied to a device in the Ayla cloud. Essentially, the template is an abstraction of a device in the Ayla cloud. The template properties define the device functionality and, consequently, how the end-user experiences the product features.

Predefined cloud templates are designed to reduce the work requirement for a customer to create a product. When a template is assigned to a device, common settings are applied, which saves the time required for manual configuration.

Template information in the Ayla Customer Dashboard is mostly for review only. You can delete a template, as stated near Actions below, and modify denied roles and retention for template properties using the Templates | Properties tab.

For information on how to create, modify, and re-associate templates, refer to Ayla Developer Portal User's Guide (AY006UDP3) on Ayla Docs.

The following template information is provided on the Templates page:

  • ID - Ayla-assigned template identification
  • Name - name of the template
  • Description - information about the template
  • OEM - OEM identification
  • Model - the model number of the Ayla module for the template
  • Product Name - the user-friendly device name to use with the template
  • Visibility - who can see the template, e.g. public, oem
  • Actions - the Trash can icon used to delete the template

By default, 10 templates are listed on the page, but you can use the Show option in the upper right corner (example below) to display as many as 100 per page.
